Our Interest in Home and Overseas
Mission
In that the Bible is our rule of
faith and practice, we believe it is full of teaching that all Christians
and churches should have an interest in, and be supportive of other
Christian work, both at home and around the world. To this end therefore,
here is a brief list of those individuals and Christian Organisations that
we feel that Lord would have us support, both by our prayerful interest and
by our giving.
PASTOR JOSEPH SOKO - Harare, Zimbabwe : Joseph
trained at the London Reformed Baptist Seminary (Metropolitan Tabernacle),
and pastor's his home church in Harare, Zimbabwe. The Lord has blessed the
ministry of this dear man, and we have been glad to hear of a number of
conversions recently, and baptisms. Joseph's congregation do not come from
among the most affluent people, and there are many needs. They are however a
people anxious to know God. Some walk many miles to attend the Prayer
Meeting, a lesson that puts most of us to shame.
THE
BARNABAS COMPANY - Romania : Having retired,
so-called, from a teaching career, Stephen and Joan Clifford, from Belper,
in Derbyshire, felt led of God to engage upon a work bringing aid and
spiritual support to Christians in Romania. Their work is mainly among the
Hungarian Baptist and Gypsy Churches of Romania, whom they visit several
times each year. Much of the funding for their work is provided by
themselves, but a number of churches, like our own, together with
individuals also seek to support the work of this remarkable couple.
VUYIROLI - Chennai (Madras), India : Vuyiroli was
founded in the year 1999 as a voluntary, non-profit, charity organisation by
Rajkumar, a Christian pastor with a passion for the poor and destitute.
Vuyiroli, which as a tamil word actually means 'Light of Life', seeks to
address the needs of the aged and neglected.
Bro. Rajkumar and his helpers
rescue the elderly destitute from the streets of Chennai and provide them
with shelter, nutritional food, clothing, medical care and recreation, all
provided with much love and affection.
One old gentleman, aged 70,
was found paralysed, in front of the Chennai Central Railway Station. He had
been brought from his native village 200 miles away, by a relative, and then
abandoned. Such are those cared for by Vuyiroli.
Our own pastor has visited
this work, and our church is pleased to bring this work to the attention of
the readers of this page of our web site. If you want to know more about
Vuyiroli then click on the following link -

CHRISTIAN COMPASSION MINISTRIES, Manila, Philippines :
CCM is a ministry of
Cubao Reformed Baptist Church. They believe that the Scriptural
mandate given to the church to preach the gospel includes the practical
outworking of that in loving concern for our fellow man. They ask the
question, how can we tell people of the love of Christ without showing them
something of that love? CCM is a benevolent ministry to the poor and needy,
particularly to children, at the same time seeking to bring the good news of
the gospel to such people. The folks at Cubao RBC believe that is the
responsibility of the church.
CCM began
in 1995 as a result of the church being made aware of the needs around them
in Cubao. Near to their meeting place four or five street families lived
under makeshift covers at night. Hearing of the needs among street children
and receiving a gift to help the poor and needy the church sought the Lord
as to what we should do. The answer was to seek to provide a home for girls
from the streets. In May 1995 Cubao RBC began their first children's home in
a small apartment at the back of their meeting place with five girls.
So much
has been accomplished by our friends at Cubao RBC, and the years since 1995
have seen both the need and the response to that need grow. This very brief
explanation cannot possibly do justice to what is being accomplished in
God's name. May I urge you you to check out the following section of the
Cubao RBC web site, which explains so much more about the work of Christian
Compassion Ministries -

Just as a
matter of interest, our church is pleased to sponsor Carlo and Timothy John,
two young boys, who both benefit from the support provided by CCM.
GILBERT MACADAM, Manila, Philippines :
It is probably fair to say that Gilbert's main work is that of a lecturer in
the New Testament at the Grace Ministerial Academy, which is part of the
work undertaken by the Cubao Reformed Baptist Church. Gilbert was recently
married to Emily, a former housemother with Christian Compassion Ministries.
Please pray for Gilbert, as he is concerned to be even more proficient in
Tagalog, the language of most of his students. We are pleased to support
Gilbert, who went out to the Philippines under the auspices of Grace Baptist
Mission.
TAKE HEED MINISTRIES, Ballynahinch, Northern
Ireland :
Our good friend Cecil Andrews, of Ballynahinch, Northern Ireland exercises
an International ministry of alerting Christians and their churches to many
of the cults and dangerous deceptions that exist in the so-called Christian
scene today. We have benefited much from Cecil’s insight, and are pleased to
commend this ministry to you.
Take Heed Ministries also
hosts visiting speakers, and our church has received such visits from Rob
Zins (USA), Mike Gendron (USA), Stephen Murphy (Dundalk), and of course
Cecil himself.
Take Heed Ministries also
provides a wide selection of leaflets, booklets, books, audio and
videotapes. If you want to know more about the work of Take Heed Ministries,

THE
TRINITARIAN BIBLE SOCIETY, London, England : Since
1831 the Trinitarian Bible Society has been engaged in the publication and
distribution of faithful and trustworthy versions of the Holy Scriptures in
many languages throughout the world. The Society desires to ensure that
believers everywhere have reliable Bibles. Ministers, missionaries and
Christian workers in more than 100 countries look to the Society for regular
supplies of complete Bibles, New Testaments, Gospels, Scripture Booklets,
Leaflets, and Text Cards. Many of the Scriptures supplied are offered, in
cases of need, free of charge or at prices well below the cost of
production.
As most friends will know,
the TBS as it is often referred to, is zealous in the belief that the most
trustworthy translation is that known by some as the A.V. (Authorised
Version), or by others as the King James version.

THE
CHRISTIAN INSTITUTE, Newcastle Upon Tyne, U.K. :
Through
strategic briefings on many moral and ethical issues, the Christian
Institute, after very careful research, is able to brief individuals and
churches such as ours, on significant matters that affect our individual and
national life. They campaign, and seek to influence our legislators on
subjects such as, Marriage and the Family, Child Protection, Pro-Life
Issues, Drugs, Religious Liberties, Education, Christianity and the
Constitution. The Christian Institute was set up in 1990, by church
leaders and Christian professionals, concerned about the lack of a Christian
voice that was able to provide an informed response to major ethical
debates.

EUROPEAN MISSIONARY FELLOWSHIP, Welwyn,
Hertfordshire, U.K. :
The continent of Europe
comprises about 13% of the world's population-towards eight hundred million
people living in over forty countries. All of these countries know something
of religion, be it Orthodox, Roman Catholic or Protestant, but many know
very little of evangelical truth.
The
over-riding aim of EMF is to establish Biblical Christianity throughout
Europe. This embraces the work of evangelism, church planting and supporting
gospel churches, at the same time encouraging them to become self-governing
and self-supporting. To learn more about the work of European Missionary
Fellowship, visit
